  • Return

    Well hello.
Apparently 2014 flew by in a blink of an eye. I assure you, it was a good one - a busy one, but a good one.

2015 is well underway and I've got all sorts of news to share with plenty more on the way.

    So far in 2015:
-The painting "31" was included in the Ohio Art League Spring Juried Exhibition in Mt. Vernon, Ohio and was awarded the Bad Girls for Good Art Award!

-I attended the Bo Bartlett Master Class Painting Workshop in Columbus, Georgia! What an experience.

-In the Cleveland Scene Magazine I was voted Best Painter in Cleveland in their Best of Cleveland 2015 Issue!

-I received an Ohio Arts Council Excellence Award! Very grateful for this and looking forward to receiving this grant which will help out tremendously.

-I was highlighted in a short documentary series called Five and Dime Films, filmed and edited by award winning documentary filmmaker Brad Bores! You can find a link to the youtube page in the "Links" section. Make sure you find them on Facebook and "Like" their page for updates and new episodes!

Well, I've got painting to do!
    Thanks,
    Frank O.

  • NEW news

    8/24/2011

    Well,
Hey friends or people who sometimes view this place??? I lied to you. I said I would update more often, and I'm TRYING!

Here are some things that have went down in the passed. . . oh . . . 7 months since I have last updated my News:

---My MFA SHOW titled "Parma Circle" was a success. It was quite the experience, especially going from many many sleepless nights filled with painting and reading and writing and thinking and more painting; to seeing the work hung up in the gallery space. Lots of family and friends traveled from far away places and the towns people of Athens were also well in attendance. Thank you to all of the people who have helped me along the way: family, friends, mentors, instructors and professors. Your support no matter how big or small has played a part in getting me this far, and for that I genuinely thank you.

---In June, I moved back to Parma, Ohio (funny how that works out) and moved back in to my old neighborhood, so naturally I started on some self portraits (coming soon). Upon moving back home I was extremely excited to meet with the folks at The Bonfoey Gallery in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. I am thrilled to announce my partnership with them and hoping for big things to come in the future. If you are in the downtown area stop by and see some of my work. Here is their information http://www.bonfoey.com/

---In mid July, I was featured in Issue 9 of BLUECANVAS art magazine. It should still be available in bookstores near you The magazine is pretty awesome (not because I'm in it) but, you know, because there are plenty of great artists who you probably haven't heard of in there. You can check out there social networking site here and order a magazine online, and if you make art, you should get a profile going! Get to it! http://www.bluecanvas.com/

    That's all for now!
    Let's do this again soon.

    Peace,
    Frank O.

  • new NEWS 4/17/2010

    Hello again,
I finally jazzed up my site a bit. It has been about a year since I've had the old format and decided it was time for something new! I hope you like.

    Some news:
I finally finished the painting that I was working on (which seems like it was taking forever)! It's a bit larger than what I normally work on and so once I finished it I naturally jumped back into some smaller paintings and drawings that I am looking forward to finishing. I will of course be posting them on here when they are done.

I also came away from the Ohio Arts League 99th Annual Spring Juried Exhibition with the Grand Prize Juror's Award which was really exciting. I had two paintings in the show: This Is Not A Life Preserver and Tuxedo Avenue. The opening reception was a great time. I wanted to say thanks to the OAL for putting on a fantastic show and also thanks to all of the Ohio University MFA Grads who came along for the support!

You can find a review on the show here:

  • new NEWS!!!

So, it has been about a year since I have started this website. I wanted to say thanks to our friends here at OPP (other peoples pixels) for giving my work a home!

    With that being said . . .

I also wanted to let everyone know that I have a couple paintings going in to a show in Columbus, Ohio through the OHIO ART LEAGUE. I will post the information for the show towards the bottom.

Currently, I am in my 2nd year of graduate school at Ohio University and preparing for my MFA thesis show next year.
I am still working hard in my studio painting, so stay tuned for updates on new work!
    Thanks for stopping by!
